Cobb EMC members are invited to attend the meeting. Learn about Cobb EMC’s progress, ways to save on your electric bill and exercise your right to vote. Each Cobb EMC member who registers will receive four free North Georgia State Fair tickets with unlimited rides and free parking to use when the fair is in town. You can also win door prizes including tablets, Visa® gift cards, bill credits, Big Green Egg® grills and a refurbished Cobb EMC truck!

Early bird prize
Members who register in person before the meeting begins will be eligible to enter the early bird prize drawing. Registration opens at 8 a.m. The early bird winner will be announced at 9:30 a.m. when the meeting begins.

Member registration begins at 8 a.m. and closes at 9:30 a.m.



Voting on proposed bylaw amendments may be accomplished as follows: (i) in-person at the meeting; (ii) by mail-in ballot; or, (iii) electronically. Votes cast by mail-in ballot or electronically must be received by 5 p.m. on September 16, 2015. Subsequent to in-person voting at the meeting, the board of directors will present, at the meeting, final voting totals of director elections and bylaw amendments submitted by members and the board for consideration by the membership. Mail-in ballots have been previously mailed to each member. In the event that you cannot attend the annual meeting, you may appoint a qualified member of your household to attend the annual meeting or vote in your stead. See Section 2.07B of the bylaws for additional information.

Commercial, government and church groups must provide authorization to represent their organizations at registration. See Section 2.07A of the bylaws for additional information.


Director election

SECTION 3.08. Notice of Nominees. The Secretary shall be responsible for posting at the Cooperative’s headquarters and on its website the nominees for the election, and if received on or before the fourth Friday in May, shall include same in the notice to the Members for the meeting at which the election is to be held.

No new nomination petitions were submitted to the secretary of the board of directors for district 2, so incumbent candidate will be running unopposed.

Members can vote for directors by mail, electronic ballot or in person September 19 at Jim R. Miller Park.


Key dates and deadlines:

  • May 22: Terms for directors of districts 2, 3 and 9 will be expiring at the Annual Meeting. Nomination petitions for Director elections must be submitted (Sec. 3.07).
  • June 11: Member sponsored bylaw amendments must be submitted (Sec. 10.01).
  • August 14: Notice must be received from any member desiring to exceed the 5 minute speaking limitation for the Annual Meeting (Sec. 2.12).

Specific bylaw requirements associated with director elections are listed below:

SECTION 3.05.  Director Term Limits. Directors shall not be eligible to be nominated or elected to serve for more than four (4) full terms as a Director. 
SECTION 3.06.  Notice of Expiring Director Terms. The Cooperative shall ensure that a notice is delivered to all Members not later than the second Friday in April notifying Members of the name of all Directors whose term of office will expire at the Annual Meeting.  Such notice shall also include a description of these Directors’ Districts, and direct such Members to information about the requirements for nominating petitions and related deadlines.
SECTION 3.07.  Nominations. Members (including those serving as incumbent Directors) seeking to be nominated for election to the Board must submit a written petition of at least thirty-five (35) or more Members of the Cooperative whose service address is in the same District as the petitioner’s service address (the “Nominating Petition”).  Nominating Petitions must be submitted to the Secretary on or before the fourth Friday in May, and ...
