Builders

Builders requesting new service for power in underground subdivisions must complete the below forms. Faxes are no longer accepted. Please submit your completed form(s) electronically.

The freely available Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view and complete the forms.

Developers

Subdivision

In an effort to ensure that your request for power is handled in a timely manner, please use this guide to provide all documents and information necessary.

Cobb EMC must have the following:

  • Site plan drawings: Including sanitary, storm, water, grading and wall designs.
  • Contact Cobb EMC's engineering department for easements, contracts and charges associated with the development.

Important information to know:

  • Cobb EMC will install all primary and secondary service wires.
  • Cobb EMC does not offer joint trench with other utilities.
  • Transformers must be accessible for our trucks.
    • Cobb EMC will provide the transformer and pad.
    • Locations must meet NFPA requirements. If unable to meet code, the Fire Marshal must submit a waiver to Cobb EMC.
  • Lighting: See lighting rates and fixtures.
  • Contact Cobb EMC's engineering department for per lot charges and other fees.

Cobb EMC will be able to provide a time line on your project after all paperwork is finalized, payments made and the job is submitted to our construction department.

Commercial

In an effort to ensure that your request for power is handled in a timely manner, please use this guide to provide all documents and information necessary.

Cobb EMC must have the following:

  • Site plan drawings: full set of plans including grading, utility, wall plans and panel schedules with the total connected KVA load.
  • Contact Cobb EMC's engineering department for easements, contracts and charges associated with the development.
  • Voltages:
    • 120/240 open delta (high leg)
    • 120/208 or 277/480 three phase
    • 120/240 single phase

Important information to know:

Typically there are no upfront charges other than deposit and membership fee, unless Cobb EMC is asked to relocate any existing lines or rock is encountered. Developer charges are independently assessed.

  • Wire and conduit: Cobb EMC will install primary conduit and wire.
    • For three phase service the customer will provide secondary conduits and wire. For single phase service, Cobb EMC will provide secondary conduit and wire.
    • If over 800 amps three phase, Cobb EMC will provide and install CT and meter on the dedicated transformer.
    • If under 800 amps, Cobb EMC will provide a self contained meter base with built in CT (electrician will install on the building).
  • Transformers must be accessible for our trucks. If transformer is within 8 feet of the driveway, owner must provide bollards.
    • Cobb EMC will provide the transformer and pad.
    • Locations must meet NFPA requirements. If unable to meet code, the Fire Marshal must submit a waiver to Cobb EMC.
  • Lighting: Please inform Cobb EMC, as soon as possible, if an independent contractor installs parking light fixtures or if you would like an estimate from Cobb EMC. Cobb EMC’s lighting system is photocell activated. See lighting rates and fixtures.
