Cobb EMC Community Foundation Scholarship
Amount: 14 scholarships available – $5,000 each
Deadline to apply: March 9, 2018

Washington Youth Tour Scholarship
Amount: $500; $1,000; $1,500; and a trip to Washington D.C.
Deadline to apply: March 2, 2018

Small change added up to make a big difference in our community in 2017. The Cobb EMC Community Foundation reached a milestone donation of more than $3 million to local nonprofits since 2013.

1. Say hello to paperless billing and goodbye to piles of envelopes and bill stubs. View and pay your bill online when you set up an account. You can also get reminders for when your bill is available, when payment is due and when payment is posted.

Furnaces are great for keeping warm when the temperatures drop, but if not operating properly, they can produce fire and carbon monoxide (CO) related safety hazards.

If you’re shopping for holiday lights this season and wondering if LEDs are worth the extra cash, the answer is yes! LED holiday lights burn brighter, last longer, are more energy-efficient and they up the safety game by decreasing risk of fire.

Cobb EMC today announced a Wholesale Power Adjustment (WPA) credit, effective December 1, which will bring $3.2 million in savings to the electric cooperative’s members. Cobb EMC increases or decreases the WPA as necessary to follow changes in wholesale electric generation and transmission costs.

“This credit offers greater savings to our cooperative members, which is particularly important during the holiday season,” said Chip Nelson, President and CEO of Cobb EMC. “The average household, which uses 1,000 kWh each month, will save $15 on their bill.”

• Remember the Move Over Laws and use caution in construction zones.
• Do not text and drive. Give the road your full attention.

Nominations for the Home Energy Efficiency Makeover are open!

Cobb EMC is partnering with the Cobb Heating and Air Conditioning Association, Gas South and Cobb County Water System to give one member a home energy efficiency makeover!

Nominate a family in need of energy efficient home improvements for the chance to win. Homeowners must live in a primary residence served by Cobb EMC to be eligible. 

Entries must be submitted by January 17, 2020.
