Get rewarded without sacrificing your comfort.

Co-op Comfort gives you an easy way to earn bill credits while staying comfortable in your home. This limited two‑year pilot lets you participate one year at a time and earn a $25 one-time enrollment credit and a $50 annual appreciation credit for actively participating in the program.

By enrolling with an eligible smart thermostat, you allow small, temporary thermostat adjustments during periods of high energy demand during the summer. These brief changes help reduce strain on the electric system, support reliable service, and help keep energy costs stable for all Cobb EMC members. Most members notice little to no difference during events, and you always remain in control of your thermostat.

Co-op Comfort Overview & Benefits

During times when electricity demand is highest (3-7 p.m., June-September), Cobb EMC will send a signal to enrolled smart thermostats to make a minor temperature adjustment. Events will occur only on weekdays and will not take place on weekends or holidays. Program benefits include:

  • No cost to enroll
  • No new equipment needed if you already have an eligible smart thermostat
  • $25 enrollment bill credit
  • $50 end of season bill credit at the end of each summer season when your thermostat is available for 80% of the event hours.
  • Two-year pilot program with a one-year participation commitment

How events work:

To help maintain comfort, homes will be pre-cooled before each event:

  • You will receive notification from Cobb EMC that a peak event will take place in approximately one day.
  • One hour before an event, your thermostat will automatically precool your home by lowering the thermostat by two degrees.
  • When the event begins, your thermostat's set temperature settings will increase by three degrees. Change. your thermostat at any time to opt out.
  • Your thermostat will remain at the event settings for 2-4 hours, until 7 p.m., and then will return to the original settings that were in place before the event began.

Enroll your eligible smart thermostat.

During summer peak times, your thermostat will automatically precool your home by decreasing two degrees for one hour before the event, then increase five degrees higher. You’ll receive a notification the day before an event, so you have advance notice and time to prepare.

You stay in control and can opt out anytime. To receive the end‑of‑season incentive, you’ll need to participate for at least 80% of all event hours during the season.

Receive a $50 bill credit after each completed summer season when requirements are met.
