Green Power

Energy from renewable sources.

Cobb EMC participates in environmentally friendly green power through Green Power EMC, which is comprised of Cobb EMC and 38 other electric cooperatives.

As a member of Green Power EMC, Cobb EMC uses electricity generated from biomass; specifically methane gas reclaimed from the Taylor County and Roberts Road landfills, as well as forestry by-products used as fuel at the Rabun Gap Wood Waste Facility. Green power generated by renewable sources offsets power that would otherwise be generated by traditional sources.

How Green Power EMC currently generates green power

  • Reclaiming methane gas from landfills in Fayette and Taylor counties
  • Tallassee Shoals Low Impact Hydro Project located on the Middle Oconee River
  • From woody waste from Georgia’s forestry industry at Rabun Gap in North Georgia
